A Crew of Patches Theatre Company was created with three specific goals:

First—
To produce exciting and engaging, no-fuss, first folio, full-length Shakespeare plays in rotating repertory.

Second—
To perform for student audiences, thereby introducing them to Shakespeare and live theatre.

and

Third—
To create day-jobs for a company of professional Chicago actors, allowing them to perform and be paid for Shakespeare during the mornings, Monday through Friday, and support themselves as they perform for other companies evenings and weekends.

Since the company’s formation in late 2003, The Patches have produced Julius Caesar, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Othello, Romeo & Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, and Twelfth Night—with at least three productions available at any time. Our productions have been ardently praised for their clarity, passion, and innovation by artists, audiences, and educators.

In our five previous seasons, we have performed more than 300 shows for over than 75,000 students in the greater Chicago-land area. We currently have a client-school list of 158 schools from Chicago Public Schools to the suburban public schools to private and ecumenical schools of all varieties ranging over Cook, Lake, LaSalle, Grundy, and Winnebago counties.
